This is the second article in a multi-part series of tech, tools and tips for meeting your 2017 goals and resolutions. In Part I, we explored ways to get you closer to meeting your weight loss, healthier eating and fitness goals through the use of apps and some must-have products.
To follow are some apps and tips for attaining Life and Self-Improvement goals in 2017.
1.) Coach.me – Goal Tracking, Habit Building & Motivational Coaching By Lift Worldwide
This app can be used to track progress on daily (or monthly or yearly) goals, and you can get feedback from the community (Free features). Use it to form a new positive habit or break an old bad habit. It gets even better by working with an accountability coach within the app ($14.99/mo) – someone to check in with, get advice and guidance from, and keep you on track.
2.) Streaks by Cruncy Bagel
If you love creating To-Do lists and find great satisfaction in checking off tasks (raising my hand enthusiastically), these apps are for you! In each of these apps, you can create habits (Floss, Sleep by Midnight, Run, Eat Breakfast, or Meditate) and check them off each day you perform them to track how many consecutive days you’ve performed a habit and how many days overall (streaks). You set the cadence for tasks that only occur on certain days of the week or for a certain number of times each week. You can encourage others by commenting or giving “props” to others in the community.
3.) Gratitude Rock – Journal/Diary of Positive Thoughts by Greg Morris
This app acts as an electronic journal to record all the things you are grateful for in your day, all while experiencing the sounds and images of the ocean. Like the power of intention, by focusing our attention on the positive we become deliberate attractors of positive vibrations while reducing the natural tendency to look for, and thus attract, negative things. More on the harnessing the Power of Intention here from the master himself, Deepak Chopra. Additional features: You can add up to 3 pictures per day to enhance your memories, read an inspirational quote of the day, set daily alerts as reminders to add entries. It has a searchable interface that allows you to go back and read past entries by date or key word. Cost: $0.99
4.) Soon By Beginner AB
A virtual Bucket List to spice up your life. When life starts to feel lackluster, check in to this app and pick an exciting task from dream list to pursue. You can add anything from bungee jumping to hot new restaurants to try, books to read, movies to see, places to visit – anything you’ve always wanted to do or see. It will automatically categorize them for ease of access in the future, and you can also view other users’ trending topics to inspire your own list.
5.) Shuffle My Life by James Gadsby
This boredom-busting app gives you tasks to carry out that vary based on the weather, season, time of day and your location, and help your life become more sociable, skilled and spontaneous. Other exciting features:
- Hundreds of curated, original Tasks – regularly updated.
- Intelligently finds the best tasks to do based on your current situation.
- Pick Tasks across several Card Packs and unlock more fun!
- Extra actions per Task to help you, such as photos, videos, web pages and more.
- Submit suggestions for Tasks and Card Packs, and see them featured in the app!
TIPS TO ADD MORE EXCITEMENT AND ENJOYMENT IN THE LIFE YOU ALREADY HAVE

2.) Try something new – Experience the joy of discovery by trying something completely foreign or new. Invigorate your taste buds with a new food or foreign cuisine, liven up your playlist with a different kind of music or new artist, or
3.) Learn something new – Pick up a new hobby or craft to reawaken your creative side and give your days new purpose as you excitedly rush home to work on your projects and crafts.
4.) Volunteer – Rack up some Karma points and revel in the feels you get from connecting with other humans and being of service to others. It will also help you to count your own blessings and abundance.
5.) Spend time outside – Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology. Breathe in the fresh air and take a quiet contemplative time-out to de-stress and rejuvenate.
6.) Spend time with children or pets – Both children and pets have a carefree sense of the world. Take some time to see life from their view and play with reckless abandon.
